Professor Rebecca Fish, a veteran expert who has more than 25 years of healthcare experience, participated in UNC Hasman Journalism and Media schools in July, taught health communication and marketing courses, and communicated and marketing. I supervised the school certificate.

Fish brings her role at school for decades. She has been working in the public and international sector in Japan, internationally, for organizations, including Merckkline and Glaxosmithkline. She also worked closely with the WHO, Gates Foundation, and other global health groups, and served as a senior policy adviser of the U.S. Deputy Health Health Bureau. Her background includes work in both business and policy functions.

“The wealth of experience in Rebecca's healthcare communication brings great value to our students, our teachers, and our state citizens,” said Raul Rayce, UNC Hasman Dean, John T.・ The car is a professor. “In the school certificate in health communication and marketing, she prepares to launch a career that has an impactful student, and through effective strategic communication, the most important tasks we serve. We are preparing to enhance the commitment of UNC Husman to deal with. ”

The certificate of health communication and marketing is a three -course program provided by UNC Hussman's undergraduate major and minors. In this program, students will learn about the important stakeholders of the healthcare aco -systems and what they promote their actions. The emphasis is a strategic communication that supports patients, consumers, medical providers, and medical institutions to address important medical issues.

“When thinking about health communication, I'm not just talking about creating a topic campaign,” Fish said. “The focus of this certificate program is a strategic health communication. We decide how to understand who is the main stakeholders, promote decision -making, and improve health results. I will.

The concept of this certificate program was a vision of UNC Hussman graduates, two Alumna Lisa Stockman Mauruelo '91, '13 (MA). Maurero recognized the importance of preparing next -generation health communication experts. After returning to Carolina to acquire technology and communication MA in 2013, she became a non -working Professor of UNC Hasman in the mission of designing a new generation of health communication leaders. Mauliello was diagnosed with ALS's aggressive form in January 2021, and in the second half of that year she lost a courageous battle with a 52 -year -old courage.

“It's very important that this certificate is worthy of Lisa's vision that was in mind,” Fish said. “It's an important part of her heritage, and I want to be a gold standard. I'm honored to be able to build a certificate with a colleague like Francesca Dillman-Carpentier.”

This certification is for UNC Hussman students, but FISH has built a partnership throughout the university and utilizes health and medical expertise in health and medical care. She establishes a partnership with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, UNC Gillings School of Global Public. I use the width. In the fall of 2024, Healthcare Marketing's Fish Capstone class students cooperated with the UNC Line Burger Cancer Center.

“I was very impressed with her attentive to work with Professor Fish, me, my colleagues, and my students,” said Tim Poe, Telehalth center director. “We plan to incorporate some great observations for students, and to incorporate some recommendations for improving communication and networking.”

Fish's new Mock Health Club is also interested in both UNC Hussman students. The club works through real -world simulations, such as Ebola virus, taking into account how various stakeholders are working on important issues.

Neha Slinibasa '27, the creator of the Mock Health Club, states: “Professor Fish is a very cooperative instructor for all students, and she goes beyond that to support the needs of individual students, from class registration to job search.”

Fish is working to expand and strengthen the curriculum of certificate programs, including the addition of basic courses, along with more global content and immersive experiences. She also uses a network to attract major experts as guest speakers, emphasizes valuable skills that the employer seeks, and applies the concepts and skills learned in the program to the setting of the program. Is producing.

“Switching to academia was a big decision, but I loved teaching and found that this role was very rewarding,” Fish said. “The students in my class are deeply involved, and we have a thoughtful question in our discussions. We inspire me to know that they are people who are working on important healthcare issues in the future. I was lucky to work with a wonderful colleague who welcomed me.
