CHARLESTON, S.C. (WIS) – An Irmo woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from nursing home residents in Charleston.

According to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s Office, the state’s Vulnerable Adult and Medicaid Provider Fraud Unit (VAMPF) arrested Rose Shelley Davis, 64. Davis was charged with one count of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, one count of financial identity fraud, two counts of financial transaction card fraud (over $500 in a six-month period), and one count of breach of trust with intent to defraud (over $10,000).

Authorities say the investigation revealed that Davis used funds and assets belonging to vulnerable individuals between Nov. 10, 2021 and April 29, 2022. Davis was entrusted with the victim’s power of attorney and allegedly used personal identifying information to access the victim’s bank accounts and take $102,109.04.

Davis is also accused of obtaining two of the victim’s debit cards and using them to make charges totaling more than $500.

The incident was reported to VAMPF through a Concerned Citizens Hotline complaint (1-888-NO-CHEAT) and will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
