Intersystems have been on the scene for a long time since 1978, with technology trends coming and going. Artificial intelligence is a lasting force and is a potential for a major transformation in healthcare.
So, at this year's HIMSS25, the company is particularly focused on “helping clients build the best possible foundation for deploying generated AI.”
“We plan to highlight the importance of having comprehensive and clean data and the tools to manage it well, including interoperability, identity management, connectivity to the entire ecosystem of related health and care, and data management capabilities that build and deploy your own AI models,” explains Aller.
“In an age of rapid change and uncertainty, our role in Intersystems is to make sure our customers are already ready for what is likely to come,” she adds. “We ensure that the healthcare organizations and solution developers we serve have the ability to handle what the future holds.”
But of course, it's not just AI that Intersystems focuses on. Long-standing database and information exchange leaders also focus on helping a wide range of healthcare clients meet many other demands that are successful in a rapidly moving industry with ever-evolving demand.
For example, “There is a great interest from health planning in understanding both how e-priority approval and interoperability regulatory requirements can be met, and how more value can be obtained from the investment in compliance,” says Aller.
What else should visitors look for and ask at the Intersystem booth (#2032)?
“We'll be taking presentations from product leaders and customers on several products: Intersystems Health Gateway, Intersystems Payer Services, International EHR, and Intersystems Empi will do reference matching,” says Aller.
“We have clients like Todd Rogow, CEO of Healthix, the largest public HIE in the United States. We're talking about the innovative work his team is doing to promote observational research and apply Genai to longitudinal health records.
Intersystem starts the week with a Monday night reception on a Las Vegas ball.
And on Wednesday, the company is holding its annual lunch and learning programme for health plan leaders.
“This year, this topic is the challenge of expanding electronic pre-authentication to the national level. We have speakers from Jay Nakashima of EHealthExchange and Doug Dietzman's Blue Cross Blue Shield Association,” says Aller. “Both organizations have implemented hub and spoke models, sharing perspectives on both the challenges and what they have achieved. In addition, InterSystem's Julie Smith will provide you with the latest information on intersystem payer services for regulatory compliance.
Intersystems leaders and clients have also participated in several important sessions, says Aller:
At 10:15am on Tuesday, at Sanpolo 3501, there will be a multinational panel to free the EHR from past constraints. A follow-up to a session conducted last year by Dr. Yaa Kumah-Crystal of Vanderbilt, reviewing some of the ways Genai simplifies existing processes, saying, “But why should I do that?” YAA moderates. Other panelists include:
o Dr. Timothy Ferris – Red Cell Partners, USA
O Bella Desra Andae -EMC, Indonesia
o Augustine amusu – Medical Middle East, United Arab Emirates
o Dr. Sebastian Valderama – UC Christus, Chile
At 10:00 Wednesday at Sanpo 3501 there will be a panel on the role of interoperability in driving data into digital health innovation. This is more focused on solution developers,
O Megan Zweig, President and CEO of Rock Health Advisory
O Gaye Bok, Partners, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Fund (AIDIF), Popular General Brigham Innovation
O Dan Gannon, Senior Director, Irhythm
o Administered by Alex Macleod, Intersystems Head of Commercial Innovation.
We will also be holding an international workshop and lunch at 1:30pm at Delfino 4103 on Wednesday, entitled “From Innovation to Integration – Practical Considerations for Clinical AI.” It is led by Dimitri Fane, head of EHR Strategy and Operations, and includes Dr. Brian Digby of NHS Scotland, Giovanni Alkuri of Gemeri Hospital in Italy, Dr. Bella Desla Andae of EMC Health in Indonesia, and Rebecca Prutoro, Intershems AI Regulatory and Complusion Leader. Given the incredibly complex global regulatory and compliance situation, I think this will be an important topic as Genai is being adopted more widely outside the US.
The InterSystem is located at booth 2032 on HIMSS25.
