Health care is a hot topic every election cycle, and Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have different visions for what health care will look like under their administration.

In the latest episode of Capitol Gains, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean joins Yahoo Finance's Rachel Akuffo, Washington correspondent Ben Welschkul, and senior columnist Rick Newman to talk about health care in the United States and the potential challenges the president-elect will face as a new president. Discuss the problem. national leader.

Governor Dean cited two main issues: the Legislature and the impact of health care on the economy. Dean said he doesn't believe Congress will “take health care seriously.”

Explaining the economic impact, Dean explains: “Healthcare is 20% of the economy of the world's largest economy…Currently, 20% of our economy is tied up in health care, with every conceivable interest group pitted against other interest groups, ensuring We’re making sure they get the benefit. Let’s keep their share.”

The election will not be decided solely on the health care policies of Vice President Harris and former President Donald Trump, but there are still ways to make policies more appealing to voters. “It's okay to be empathetic to people who are struggling with medical costs that are actually killing many families,” Dean says. “I think Democrats have an overall advantage when it comes to health care.”
