KOLKATA: Police on Thursday morning launched search operations at residences and offices of persons “close” to RG Khar Hospital’s former director Sandip Ghosh, who was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in the medical institution’s finances, officials said.

Another team from the Enforcement Directorate was conducting searches at Ghosh’s ancestral house at Chinar Park in North 24 Palganth area.

“The agency officials are questioning Louhiya and his wife. Louhiya had received favours from Ghosh while approving the tender,” the official told news agency PTI.

“We have another team searching for documents at the office of an organisation which was supplying equipment to RG Kal Hospital. There are several questionable transactions between the medical community and this organisation,” he said.

The ED, along with the CBI, is also conducting a parallel investigation into alleged financial irregularities at state-run hospitals.

The CBI had earlier arrested Ghosh and three of his accomplices in connection with the case.
