Nursing home officials said all residents are safe and will be temporarily evacuated during the flooding.
WHITEHALL, MI — Record rainfall was recorded in the Muskegon area on Tuesday, forcing some residents of a Whitehall nursing home to evacuate due to flooding.
SKLD staff posted on their Facebook page Tuesday evening that there was minor flooding in parts of the nursing home, which led to residents being relocated to other areas of the facility.
Officials stressed that all residents are safe.
“We will provide updates as we work diligently to repair the building and return residents to their rooms,” the Facebook post said.
As of Tuesday evening, 4.42 inches of rain had fallen in Muskegon, breaking the previous daily record set on Sept. 24 and the monthly record for September. This is the third-highest daily rainfall ever recorded in Muskegon.
