PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – TLC In Home Care Service continued its annual tradition of hosting a holiday toy drive Thursday night.
TLC hosts a toy drive at JP Henry's on the first Thursday of December each year. This year, well over 100 toys were brought in, according to TLC Office Manager Tori Deem.
The toys will be distributed to organizations such as the Children's Home Association and Blueprint.
Jodi Null, child and family services supervisor at the Deam and Children's Home Society, said the toy drive helps ensure children in need can enjoy their Christmas presents.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do and it’s good for the soul,” Deem said. “We want to donate to the Children and Families Association, and we also donate to some other organizations. It’s just a necessity.”
Nuru said the organization relies on community partners to provide Christmas assistance to children and families.
“We are really counting on our community partners to provide Christmas support to children and families in our community,” Null said. “Without Cindy and TLC, and the many other organizations that help us during the holiday season, we would not be able to give back to the children and families in our community.”
Nuru said thanks to community partners like TLC, they were able to provide Christmas support to around 300 children in the community last year.
