Treasurers play a critical role in healthcare companies by managing liquidity and influencing financial health. But how often is their expertise underutilized because of limited collaboration between departments? They report that there are significant barriers. What's the result? Cash flow becomes less predictable and financial optimization opportunities are missed.
Only 56% of healthcare finance executives claim to have significant influence over decisions in their companies, according to a new PYMNTS Intelligence report, “The Impact of Misunderstood Finance Professionals in Healthcare,” a collaboration with Citi. This is shown to be among the lowest in all fields. Furthermore, only 32% of department heads have a good understanding of the treasurer's role. This lack of knowledge and limited strategic engagement limits the influence of treasurers and hinders financial stability and growth across the company.
