The Rossville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre has been sued by a former employee on retaliation charges.

William Hampton Jr. alleges that a female certified nursing assistant was fired after reporting sexually harassed by a male patient.

Recover-Care Rossville LLC owns Rossville Healthcare, a nursing home that provides short- and long-term medical care, rehabilitation therapy, respite care and hospice care.

Hampton has worked at Rossville Healthcare from 2018 to 2023 and has been working in the medical field since 2015.

Hampton's legal representatives are Bruce Alan Blumley and Chloe Elizabeth Davis. They are seeking at least $50,000 in damages.

William Hampton Jr. is suing Rossville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre for retaliation after reporting sexual harassment of a female employee.

What Hampton claims happened at Rossville Healthcare

In Hampton's lawsuit, he claims he has repeatedly seen and heard that female CNAs are being sexually harassed by male patients.

Hampton notified his administrator, Jesse Bird and Mr. Bird in February 2023, saying, “The resident has the right to do what he wants, that is It's his house.” “That's part of the job.”

Later that day, Hampton said he approached Byrd separately to ask if he could do anything, and she said no.

On another occasion, Hampton raised the issue with Chief Operating Officer Anthony Johnson and Regional Vice President Matt Herman while Bird was within range of his earshot. Johnson and Herman said the issue would be considered, and Byrd allegedly told Hampton that “we're already talking about this.”

The next day, Hampton said it was written for smoking in an area not designated for smoking, despite being in the same place where he had smoked every previous shift. Before that incident, Hampton said it was written only once because he didn't wear a mask during Covid in 2020.

Hampton was then removed all scheduled shifts for the remainder of the month. When he asked staffing coordinator Jen Mayer, he said she didn't answer. Later that day, nurse director Sheena Johnson said he would be placed at a halt in Hampton until he waited for an investigation, but he said Johnson had not given him a reason.

Four days later, Hampton was informed that he would be fired.
