Getty ImagesSeveral care homes in Northern Ireland have advised families not to visit their loved ones to protect residents from the current influenza virus outbreak.
While this is a normal procedure to control infections, it is understood that there is growing concern about the rising number of cases, particularly among staff.
Almost 80% of care home residents have been vaccinated, but it is understood that similar progress has not been made among staff.
BBC News NI understands that while the number of homes affected is not considered a major issue at this stage, it is a reflection of the impact the virus is having on the care of vulnerable men and women.

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is urging everyone who is eligible to receive the vaccine.
Its director, Dr. Joanne McLean, said vaccines are the best defense against seasonal influenza.
“The seriousness of seasonal influenza should not be underestimated.
“It can cause hospitalization even in healthy people. We have enough vaccine in stock to help eligible people take advantage of this offer.”
