The Seneca Healthcare District reports that employees participated in the annual reading of Chester Elementary School, held in honor of Dr. Seuss. Organizers report that CES will host this special event every year, celebrating the joy of reading and encouraging students' literacy.
This year, Seneca staff volunteered to read kindergarten students, first and sixth grade students. “It was a great opportunity for our team to engage with the young minds of our community and share the magic of Dr. Seuss' story,” said SHD Public Relations Coordinator Brandi Camarena.
Catie Neely, infection prevention manager and one of the participating staff members, shared her experiences. “Their first grade class was a lot of fun working with. Their excitement and enthusiasm for learning made the experience incredibly enjoyable. It was a joy to share the joy of reading with such an incredible group of students.”
“It was a great pleasure to read first grade classes,” Casey Brotherard said. “Their enthusiasm and curiosity were truly heartwarming. It was a great experience to be able to share the love of reading with them.”

TK teacher Darrah Culver praised human resources director volunteer Shanna Roelofson. “Shanna had the best energy for the TK class.”
One of the highlights was reading the book “What kind of pets should pets get?” For the sixth grade class, participants said. Camarena said after speculating on what kind of pet the characters in the book chose, the class was very enthusiastic and asked many questions about the hospital, healthcare system and the construction project for the new hospital. “They are a bright group of kids and they really enjoy being around,” said Chelssa Outland, Shd Public Information Officer.
“The Seneca Healthcare District is honored to be part of this fun and meaningful activity,” Camarena said. “We are proud to support Chester Elementary School, its dedicated staff and teachers in the efforts to inspire and educate the next generation. This is a truly amazing event.”
SHD's mission is to provide excellent healthcare services and quality care to community members and visitors through dedicated and caring staff, providers and innovative technologies. Shd says it is committed to creating an atmosphere that promotes health and healing for the communities it serves.
