Home care and personal support workers are getting a raise!
Thanks to our collective action in 2023, we were able to win a historic contract for home care and personal support workers, including significant pay increases and some holiday work pay. In January, workers will receive an additional 50 cents an hour cost-of-living raise.
In addition, the Department of Human Services will look at your hours worked over the past 18 months to see if you qualify for additional raises. Caregivers who have worked at least 2,000 hours within an 18-month period may be eligible for additional pay increases. In addition to the cost of living increase, you will receive a $1 hourly wage. Don't know how it works? This video explains it!

Have you completed the negotiation survey yet?
Thousands of home care providers are preparing to sign their next union contract with Oregon in 2025.
We are fighting to raise wages, protect health care, strengthen protections for workers, and strengthen long-term care for both care providers and the people they serve.
Our selected SEIU 503 negotiation team wants to hear from you. A negotiation questionnaire was emailed to all eligible home care and personal support members in early December. As SEIU members, it is our right and responsibility to share what is important to us and our families in our work.
Be sure to go online and complete our personalized survey. By doing so, you can prioritize your next contract and support our efforts towards better home care services and good union jobs. Together, we can create real change. If you did not receive your survey via email or text message, please contact your SEIU 503 organizer or call the Member Assistance Center at 1.844.503.SEIU (7348).

Around our union…
Nursing home staff successfully navigated six table-to-table negotiations in challenging conditions to score a big victory in a grueling campaign. With more than 60 negotiating delegates, 150 on-the-ground actions, and a 98% strike vote at one facility, our members drove change through solidarity and action. These included information pickets and strike preparations reported by local media. These efforts resulted in strong settlements for all companies.
Key accomplishments include new health benefits that provide affordable coverage for hundreds of workers, tens of thousands of dollars in retroactive pay increases, and safe staffing protections across all employers. The one- to four-year contracts reflect these hard-earned improvements and represent a milestone in the fight for better conditions and fair treatment for workers.
