PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA โ Christmas is just over a week away. Santa's little helpers are hard at work, and so are this week's Hometown Heroes.
They call themselves Santa's Senior Helpers, and they brighten the hearts of many in our community.
CBS12 News joined Palm Beach Senior Helpers as they read Christmas cards written by local students, helped decorate the Christmas tree and spread some holiday cheer to local senior and Air Force veteran Charles McDullin .
Natalie Visarraga is a senior care coordinator for a group that provides year-round non-medical home care to seniors in the community.
Their services include everything from companion care to specialized services for people with chronic illnesses.
Natalie says a little extra support can go a long way during this time.
“It's important to do this for seniors because seniors can be lonely at times. We, especially at Senior Helpers of Palm Beach, have people who love and care for seniors. I want to be reminded of that,โ she says. “We don't see our clients as just clients, we see them as family. And we want to make sure they recognize that and that we're spreading that love and joy.” is.”
Mr. McDullin is a 92-year-old Air Force veteran who lives in Palm Beach Gardens.

This will be his first Christmas without his wife of 70 years, who passed away in April.
“She is the greatest woman who ever lived.”
His son Tim said he could not be more grateful to the senior helpers for the care they had shown his father over the past few months.
“Natalie immediately stepped in and grabbed the ball and ran with it and got him into the VA program. And his caregiver, Lanette, who is with him now, has been amazing.”
Mr. McDullin has a lot of family around him this holiday season, and it was an honor for Natalie to spend time with him as well.
“I know Mr. McDullin is a strong man, and he won't let me know he's going through a tough time,” she admits. “But we all know how much he loved his wife Twyla, and we just want to make sure he's even more loved this season.”
