The Kane County State Law Office says there is good reason to use lethal force when officer St. Charles, who shot and killed a man swinging a chainsaw in a nursing home last December.
Body-covered camera footage shows 41-year-old Daniel H. Escalella in a nursing home on the Glen River, looking to start a chainsaw before facing an officer. The officer ordered him to drop his weapon, then deployed a Taser, knocking him down temporarily.

Escalella was handcuffed before the officers provided first aid. He was later taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
A coroner's toxicology report found that amphetamine, methamphetamine, and olanzapine were present in the escalella system.
