Aveanna Healthcare (NASDAQ: AVAH) reported significant revenue growth rates in the second quarter of 2025 during a revenue call on Thursday, driven primarily by Private Duty Services (PDS) and Home Health.
“Our second quarter results reflect the continued positive momentum in all three operations divisions as we navigate our third year of strategic change,” CEO Jeff Shanner said in a revenue call. “Thrive's acquisition of skilled pediatric care (April) demonstrates our current market investment and commitment to new market expansion to drive growth in our core services.”
Based in Wakefield, Massachusetts, Thrive operates 23 locations in Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia and Texas. The company focuses primarily on skilled private nursing, but also offers pediatric therapy, licensed health aide services and certified nurse assistant services.
With the company's acquisition, Aveanna's PDS products have expanded in five current states, adding Kansas and New Mexico. Shaner said he hopes the acquisition will be imposed on a valuable addition to the 2025 outcome and the Aveanna portfolio.
Based in Atlanta, AveAnna Healthcare offers pediatric and adult health care services, including nursing, rehabilitation, labor nursing in schools, treatment services, and daily treatment centers for medically vulnerable and chronically ill children and adults, and home health services. The company has 327 locations in 34 states.
Second quarter revenues rose nearly 17%, up $589.6 million from $555 million in the same period last year. Overall growth was driven by an increase of $78.2 million in private services revenue, a $5.5 million in home health care, and a $1 million in revenue from health solutions.
The company's adjusted EBITDA was reported at $88.4 million, an increase of $42.7 million from the previous year, or nearly 94%.
“Our second quarter results are highlighted by revenue and adjusted EBITDA growth, respectively, compared to the previous year. 16.8% and 93.6%, respectively. The less-than-focus on delivering operational excellence, disciplined clinical outcomes continues to drive improved outcomes. “In addition, the successful acquisition of prosperous, skilled pediatric care will expand both the size and capacity of pediatric services. We are pleased to have adjusted the yearly guidance to adjusted EBITDA by more than $270 million based on performance and future opportunities.”
The full-year guidance for 2025 was previously reported at over $2.15 billion, with adjusted EBITDA revised from over $207 million.
Speaking about the 2026 Home Health Proposal Rules, Shanner said he was “disappointed at the importance” of the proposed 6.4% cut, and Abeanna said he was in line with the Care Alliance for National Care and its Home Health peers that oppose the rules.
Shaner said the rules would directly reduce the expectations of Medicare and seniors who are expecting to receive health care at home and health care at home.
“Ensuring proper access to care for seniors, especially in rural America, is paramount, where we need less, less, more access to care,” Shaner says. “We strongly oppose the proposed rules regarding comments during the (Centre for Medicare & Medicaid Services) (CMS) public comment period and continue to defend halting home health benefits cuts in all 38 Aveanna states for CMS and Congress.”
