Pike County, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) – Residents at the Elkhorn Health Rehabilitation Support Facility in Elkhorn City were safely evacuated during last week's devastated flooding.
Evacuation took place on February 15th after a nearby stream flooded, flushed the roads and made travel dangerous. The crew worked 12 hours and moved residents to other facilities.
Residents say staff have taken additional precautions to ensure safety. Stewart Baldridge, who was among the evacuated, praised the team for their efforts. “They took precautions and took us all together. They had their routine and everything was perfect,” Baldridge said.
Facilities officials ensured that evacuation plans were already in place prior to flooding, allowing staff to act quickly when conditions worsened.
