BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital's brand new pediatric medical facility has been officially welcomed.
On Sunday morning, hospital staff and volunteers began moving patients from the closed Children's Medical Facility at Atlanta Eggleston Hospital to the new location.
The first patient welcomed into the hospital was 8-year-old Brisany Morales.

The movement is organized by 1,200 volunteer team members and an additional 1,000 support staff to meet the needs of patients and families.
They are transporting about 340 patients from Eggleston Hospital near Emory University to the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital on North Druid Hills Road.
It is estimated that 65 ambulances will be used and the journey will take 10 to 12 hours.

Hospital leaders are asking others to avoid the area to help the transition process go more smoothly.
There are no plans to close any roads, but police and Georgia State Patrol troopers will be stationed along the route to restrict traffic.
