One woman killed, one firefighter sent to hospital after Valley Station house fire

According to the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Department, one woman was killed and one firefighter was injured in a house fire early Monday morning. The fire department was called to the fire on Stephen Drive in Valley Station, near Waverly Hills, just after 3 a.m. Flames were coming from the home when firefighters arrived on scene, according to the fire department. The home sustained significant damage from the fire, and firefighters were forced to extricate one woman from the home. The woman was taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead. One firefighter was also injured in the incident, according to the fire department. The firefighter was taken to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns and is expected to be in stable condition. The name and age of the woman who died have yet to be released by the coroner. It took the fire department about 30 minutes to put the fire out. Arson investigators are on scene and are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
