The Oklahoma State Chamber has launched a new initiative to help small business owners. ChamberCare is now available to eligible businesses to provide affordable health care to their employees.

ChamberCare is designed for small employers with two or more employees enrolled in a health plan and no more than 50 total employees. This self-funded healthcare option allows participating companies to contribute to a common fund used to cover basic healthcare claims. The Del City Chamber of Commerce is one of several chambers ready to offer this benefit to its members.

“Del City is a small town, approximately 7.5 square miles, and most of our businesses are small businesses,” said Joshua Schultz of the Del City Chamber of Commerce. “The competitive edge between small and medium-sized businesses and perhaps larger businesses lies in their ability to provide services and offer a better package to their employees.”

The Chamber believes the ChamberCare initiative will enable small business owners to better care for their employees.

“This is a great way for businesses with 2 to 50 employees to obtain insurance at a very reasonable cost, ensuring that their employees are covered while also ensuring that their company It also saves money that can be reinvested in the company and hired more employees.”

“If you're a small business owner, you have to take care of your employees before you take care of yourself,” Schultz added.

Skarky said the effort will be managed by Allied and utilize the Aetna Signature Administrators network.

“The way it works is that every company that participates in the plan puts their own money into the fund and then pays their own insurance benefits,” Skulky said. “In that way, they act like a large company that has its own insurance and writes its own insurance.”

He highlighted potential savings of up to 20% for participating businesses.

“You're doing that with more than 10 employees, and it costs a lot of money,” Skulky said.

This new health care option not only benefits employers, but also contributes to the growth of local communities.

“If you have just a little bit of an incentive for someone to come work for your company, it helps not only our city grow, but cities around Oklahoma as well,” Schultz said.
