Charlotte – People calling Myers Park Nursing Home are being forced to pack and move as it is said that the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) have stopped paying for care, citing medical and safety concerns.
The CMS has sent a notification to Citadel in Myers Park and is ending its partnership with this nursing home, which is why patients and residents must move. The move process has already begun.
This is not the first issue for owners of the Citadel in Myers Park along Providence Road.
Channel 9 spoke with Ronald Barber in February 2022 after Aunt Dorothy, 98, passed away in Citadel Salisbury.
He told Channel 9 that no one notified Dorothy's death until the funeral director did so after she was already prevented.
The Salisbury facility is closed, but records show that it is owned by the same operator as the Meyer Park operator.
Federal government records show that Myers Park's Citadel has no overall rating. CMS says it has a “history of serious quality issues.”
The facility has had several complaints over the past three years, resulting in 20 citations.
During the latest health test, the facility received 12 citations.
The CMS said the priority is to find a home for residents.
Records show that Citadel of Myers Park has received $14 million from Medicaid and Medicare.
Accordius Health has other facilities in the area, including Reddman Road in Charlotte and Shamrock Drive.
Channel 9 asks Accordius Health for a response.
