MADISONS, Wis. (WMTV) — The Ninas hope to trigger a change in the healthcare industry after completing their 127-mile journey in a wheelchair at the Wisconsin Capitol on Friday.
He said he was motivated to draw attention to the crisis in home care workers.
He said there is a lack of access to home care due to low compensation from care workers. He further explained that the issues have been exacerbated due to recent cuts in Medicaid.
“Every miles I travelled to this chair reminded me of the strength I need to live with my disabilities and, more importantly, the strength of the caregivers that make our lives possible,” Schulze said.
During his three-week trip, he averaged 10-11 miles each day.
Several members of Madison's Disability Rights Community also joined him on Friday to celebrate his achievements.
