Mayor Eric Adams tore his major rival Andrew Cuomo's reputation as “great manager” on Monday.
Hizzoner has joined the grieving New York family and 2025 mayoral candidates for both Democrats and Republicans.
“He mishandled the nursing home issues,” he told reporters about Cuomo.
“Some people said, 'He's a great manager, and I'm sure he managed that crisis well,” Adams quipped.
The mayor's criticism came the day after relatives of relatives of nursing home residents who died in the pandemic excellence of Khaomo, died due to disastrous instructions to tell the facility to recruit Covid-19 patients.
Democratic mayoral candidates Adrienne Adams, Brad Lander, Zohran Mamdani, Jessica Ramos and Scott Stringer attended the family's Sunday rally along with Republican Curtis Sliwa and independent Jim Walden.
The mayor said he had contacted those families and also criticised the records of the community in Khaomo.
Adams argued that there was “racial disparity” in how Cuomo handled the pandemic, from the distribution of personal protective equipment to the distribution of vaccines.
During the pandemic, many black and brown councillors, including city council president Adrian Adams, have argued that there is a gap between vaccine locations and testing sites in the city.
A Cuomo spokesman when Adams was asked about the governor's handling of the pandemic in June 2024, he said he didn't want people to take “cheap shots.”
“New Yorkers are smart. They know that the mayor is a hopeless man who is Trump's agent, and that a hopeless man knows anything to do and say,” said Cuomo spokesman Rich Atzpaldi.
Adams also trained other mayoral challengers in the fire.
Last week, when asked about his conflict with Jewish leaders that anti-Sems were running for the mayor, Adams didn't name them.
But he provided some hints. A candidate alongside the democratic socialists in America.
Current city secretary Lander and Queens Assemblyman Mamdani have seen a recent spike in support, both fit the bill.
Lander blasted Cuomo on Monday to portray campaign contributions from donors who have allied with President Trump.
“New York City deserves the mayor to stand up to Trump, rather than bend his knees like Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams,” he said in a statement.
