BIG RAPIDS, Michigan – Access to basic health care is a challenge for millions of Americans.
Remote Area Medical (RAM) is stepping in to address this issue from May 31st to June 1st by providing free comprehensive healthcare at Big Rapids' 210 Sports Drive, RL Ewigleben Sports Complex.
The free clinic works with Ferris State University. Dentistry, vision and medical care are available to anyone who is struggling without insurance or ID, regardless of their residence. Through pop-up clinics, RAM provides these essential services to underserved and uninsured communities nationwide.
According to the nonprofit, patients must prepare to choose dental and visual services due to time constraints. According to the website, health services are provided to all patients who participate in the clinic.
Parking will be open until 11:59pm on Friday, May 30th and will be open during the clinic. Once you enter the parking lot, you will be provided with additional information about the medical process and the next steps.
The clinic business on Sunday, June 1st will be abbreviated, but services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6am on May 30th.
RAM encourages anyone who wants to arrive as soon as possible, especially dental services. In situations outside the control of nonprofit organizations, such as bad weather or volunteer cancellations, parking may be open early or a small number of patients may be provided.
For more information about upcoming RAM clinics, including volunteering and donation methods, visit Ramusa.org or call (865) 579-1530.
