Missouri Department of Corrections Attorney General Eric Schmidt Ann Prisk Taxpayer Settlement Litigation Missouri Sexual Harassment

Missouri joins several other states in suing the Biden administration over new rules mandating minimum staffing requirements for nursing homes.

The rule requires that each nursing home in the United States have a registered nurse on-site 24/7, that each patient receive at least 33 minutes of care from a registered nurse each day, and that each patient receive approximately 2 minutes of care. is required. 30 hours of care per day from a nursing assistant.

Missouri and 19 other states argue that most nursing homes are understaffed and unable to meet these requirements, and that the new rules will force thousands of nursing homes out of business.

The complaint also argues that the Biden administration does not have the authority to impose this rule.

In a statement, the White House cited research showing that increased staffing “is associated with improved quality of patient care.”

The case will be heard in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
