ROCHESTER, N.Y. — They met at the Metro Judicial Conference's Elderly Judicial Committee on Thursday to oppose substandard nursing home care.
Participants shared personal stories of loved ones who suffered due to understaffing and negligence, causing physical and emotional harm.
They also expressed concern that neither the nursing home manager nor the state Department of Health is properly protecting vulnerable residents.
“What do you want people to take away from today? We want them to feel strongly that they can go back to nursing homes and talk for their loved ones, seek better care and know their rights.”
Participants encouraged members to advocate for their loved ones not only at nursing homes but also at the state level. They expressed their gratitude to News10NBC for their investigation into nursing home care issues.
