Federal authorities are removing Medicare and Medicaid funds from Aventella at Terrace View Nursing Homes for health and safety violations.
BLAKLEY, Pa. – A nursing home in Luckawana County is facing closure after federal authorities granted Medicare notifications and Medicaid termination.
In a letter obtained by Newswatch 16 to Aventura at Terrace View Nursing Home in Blakely, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has notified that as of April 30th, the Nursing Home's Medicare and Medicaid contracts are terminated.
This means that residents who pay for nursing homes through the program will no longer be eligible to do so and will have to be relocated to another facility.
It also means that nursing homes must be closed as many of their residents pay through these programs. Overall, more than 100 residents will need to be relocated.
The notice was provided because the facility failed to meet Medicare's basic health and safety requirements, according to the letter.
Patients recognized by November last year will be able to find new facilities for 30 days before payments stop.
According to the letter, CMS discovered that Aventura in Terrace View was not compliant with health and safety requirements. It added that relocation efforts can be challenging, but patient safety and quality of care will be prioritized.
