West Orange, New Jersey, April 2, 2025 – Mark E. Manigan, president and CEO of RWJ Barnabas Health, the largest and most comprehensive academic health system in New Jersey, has been named to the 2025 list of 2025 reviews of great leaders in healthcare. He appeared on the list in 2024 and 2023. This list honors the CEOs of outstanding hospitals and health systems who drive innovation, promote inclusion, expand access to care, and skillfully pilot the agency through an evolving healthcare situation. List leaders are not only famous for skillfully adapting to change across the healthcare industry, but also for actively shaping and driving change.
Manigan serves more than 5 million patients a year in 700 facilities, leading the system-wide noble mission to build and maintain healthier New Jersey and create a national model for clinical and business success.
Under his leadership, the system will provide state-leading healthcare, including top-ranked cancer programs, New Jersey's only heart and lung transplant centers, and the state's most advanced burn treatment facilities. Working on building and maintaining healthier communities, the system is the state's largest provider of care for uninsured and Medicaid patients, investing in programs that improve social determinants of health, such as housing, food insecurity, transportation and education.
Manigan also strengthened the system's outpatient care network and implemented a service line integration model to improve efficiency.
He was recently appointed to Njbiz's Healthcare Power 100 in 2025 and serves on the Rutgers University Governor's Committee.
