Curtis A. Meadows, 54, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI after police said he drove a Nissan Pathfinder to the home of his strange companion, Rebekah, killing an 82-year-old woman and seriously injured the 86-year-old woman.

Police said the pasture told officers that it consumed cannabis two hours before driving. Meadows is facing a worsening DUI of four counts, causing death and two reckless murders in the car.

In court Tuesday, Meadows said he plans to hire a private attorney.

Judge Brien J. O'Brien held that Meadows had presented sufficient threat to the community to deny his pretrial release. He will return to court on Monday, May 12th for a preliminary hearing.

Editor's Note: In court, Coles County State Attorney Jesse Dunley said the 86-year-old woman was killed, seriously injured. He contacted Wand News to make an adjustment that as of Tuesday afternoon she was still alive and in danger.
