In a heartwarming example of purposeful entrepreneurship, two locally born and raised women have launched a new home care business dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care to individuals and their families. With a heart for service and a passion for dignity-led support, the founders aim to ease the burdens often faced by people who care for their loved ones with age or disabilities.
Motivated by their own caregiving experiences and desire to give back, Helen Cats and Margaret McClure began planning for the Home Helper LLC on a mission to prioritize kindness, cultural sensitivity and continuity of care while providing companion care services to Sussex County and surrounding areas.
The idea came from a pandemic, where women who witnessed the sacrifices of caregiving adopting families, particularly when services were unreliable or contradictory, possessed a variety of compassionate abilities. After sharing their experiences, frustration, and visions of doing things differently, they realized they could make something better.
“We were living it and we knew there was a need,” McClure said. “We were looking after our parents, grandparents and neighbors and we always ran into the same problem. We missed appointments, no shows from our agents, lack of communication. We wanted to build a service that treated our clients like family and gave real peace of mind to our real family.”
What sets Home Helpers LLC apart is its holistic approach to care. In addition to traditional non-health services such as dating, daily activities support, meal preparation and light housekeeping, the company offers full-service home management and care coordination.
“We don't just care about individuals. We care about people and their entire family,” Cats said. “From schedules for physician appointments and implementing safety systems at home, to organizing households and managing daily life, we handle details so that families can focus on spending meaningful time with loved ones.”
With reliable teams and systems in place, the company ensures coverage and continuity, eliminating the general concern of caregiver callouts and care gaps.
Home Helpers LLC may be a premium service, but our founders are proud to say that their clients receive unparalleled value.
“Our fees reflect the quality, professionalism and reliability we provide,” Catts said. “You get what you pay – and we do it all. When families are partnering with us, they don't just get companion care. They have a team that manages the big picture.”
Now accepting new clients and hiring caregivers from the local community, Home Helpers LLC quickly builds a reputation for excellence, warmth and trust.
“This business is personal to us,” says McClure. “We started because we were concerned, and that's exactly how we do that.”
