Naples, Florida –

Lee Health is launching lawsuits to make children's healthcare accessible in the Gulf Coast, particularly Lee and Collier counties.

The Miami-based children's hospital is said to be trying to remove Leehealth from the Golisano Children's Health Center in Naples, located on the corner of Pine Ridge Road and Livingston Road.

This legal battle could close Naples' Golisano Children's Health Center, leaving Collier County's most vulnerable children without essential health care.

The threat of lease ending by Friday, April 4th is said to have been denied recognition of LeeHealth's lease after property owners at Miami-based Nicklaus Children's Hospital moved to a private nonprofit organization last fall.

Since the Switch, LeeHealth has been able to expand its care outside of Lee County and partner with more doctors, clinics and other medical facilities.

Naples Golisano Children's Health Center offers a wide range of services, including cardiac disease, oncology, emergency care, and treatment for children with autism.

Lee Health said last year, emergency care treated more than 20,000 children. This facility is where some families come for professional treatment for children suffering from cancer or chronic disease.

If the center closes, families will be forced to travel outside of Collier County and will receive the care they need from their children.
