The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the assault of an Indianara man outside of Milo. Justin Hubbell is currently recovering at a hospital in Des Moines. He still has scars on his face from the assault he suffered Sunday morning. His sister loves and protects her brother. She doesn’t understand why he was attacked. “The trauma was to his head and face,” said Missy Newlin, the victim’s sister. According to Newlin, Hubbell was at a housewarming party that was planned for about a dozen people outside of Milo early Sunday morning. But the party grew in size. She says Hubbell was trying to get people to go home. “He was walking down the driveway trying to get people to go home and he was attacked by three guys,” Newlin said. She says her brother is lucky to be alive. A family friend who was at the party heard about the fight and went outside to see Hubbell on the ground bleeding. She immediately jumped in to help. “He was bleeding so much he could have died,” Newlin said. Missy said her brother takes blood thinners and has many health issues in addition to the wounds he sustained in the attack. “He has two stents in both legs, and he’s had a few times where his legs have come off. It’s life-threatening. He has esophageal problems and short-term memory problems because of blood clots. He’s had a stroke, a heart attack, a seizure,” Newlin said. Despite the beating and other health issues, Newlin is confident her brother will make a full recovery. “He’s going to bounce back. He’s strong. And God has a plan for him. It’s not over yet,” Newlin said. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office told KCCI the investigation is nearly complete.
Milo, Iowa —
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the assault of an Indianara man that occurred outside of Milo.
Justin Hubbell is currently recovering in a Des Moines hospital, his face still showing scars from the assault he suffered Sunday morning.
His sister loves and protects her brother but doesn’t understand why he was attacked.
“The trauma was all over his head and face,” said Missy Newlin, the victim’s sister.
Hubbell had been attending a housewarming party for about a dozen people outside Milo’s early Sunday morning, Newlin said.
But the partying got bigger and bigger, and Hubbell was trying to get people to go home, she said.
“He was walking down the driveway, urging people to leave, and then he was attacked by three men,” Newlin said.
She says she is lucky her brother is alive.
A family friend was at the party and heard about the fight, went outside and saw Hubbell on the ground bleeding.
She immediately decided to jump in and help him.
“He could have bled to death,” Newlin said.
Missy said her brother takes blood thinners and has a number of health issues that exacerbate the injuries he sustained in the attack.
“He has two stents in each leg. The stents have almost caused his legs to be amputated twice – it’s life threatening. He has esophageal problems because of blood clots, he has short term memory loss. He’s had a stroke, a heart attack, a seizure,” Newlin said.
Despite the assault and other health issues, Newlin is confident her brother will make a full recovery.
“He will bounce back. He’s strong. And God has a plan for him. His fight is not over yet,” Newlin said.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office told KCCI the investigation is nearly complete.
