“We have been planning the day literally minute by minute,” Chief Nursing Officer Linda Cole said of the move.
The movement is organized by 1,200 volunteer team members and an additional 1,000 support staff to meet the needs of patients and families.
They transferred 202 patients from Eggleston Hospital near Emory University to the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital on North Druid Hills Road.

The trip will take 10 to 12 hours and will require 65 ambulances.
“We're going to have ambulances coming in from all of our neighboring states, so it really took a tremendous amount of community effort to get the ambulances there safely,” Cole said.
The approximately four-mile route from Eggleston runs from Claremont Road to the I-85 frontage road.
