Washington – Northwest DC has great concern after Homeland Security investigators attempted to detain healthcare workers at primary schools in the northwest.
Homeland Security agents say they tried to detain a medical contractor at HD Cook Elementary School during class hours, according to DC Public Schools.
What we know:
It happened Wednesday morning at a school in the 2500 block of 17th Avenue northwest, in a fenced car park on campus. The agent didn't go to school.
The school administrator said he followed protocols and guidance from the Attorney General's DC office and was asked to see the ID and warrant.
The agent leaves and then contacts DCPS with the health department of DC to make the situation aware, so they can follow up with the contractor's employer.
What they are saying:
People in the community near Adams Morgan say, no matter how much the school is open to.
“I think it's terrible. It's important we come together and let them know that members of our community are members of our community, and that we support them and we're here for them,” said neighbor Sarah Kilmer.
Fox 5 reached out to the Department of Homeland Security. We are waiting for a reply.
