CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Local nurse Carolyn Marsh has expanded her services to offer home health hair care, a growing trend in health care aimed at providing low-cost home services.
Bernadette DeMott, a client who underwent a 16-hour surgery to remove a benign brain tumor five years ago, appreciates the personalized care. “It was a 16-hour surgery, and the tumor made me crippled, and then I lost feeling on my right side for another 16 hours,” DeMott said.
Marsh, a certified nurse and certified esthetician, founded Home Health Hair to serve clients with medical or mobility issues.

“Whether they have medical issues or mobility challenges, the salon experience caters to that,” Marsh said. She emphasized the importance of human connections, adding, “Humanity, friends. I'm an advocate for people staying at home.”
DeMott feels safe receiving services in her home, saying, “It gives me a sense of security because I'm in my own home. For survivors of traumatic brain injury, their world often becomes very small.”
Marsh believes that everyone has the right to beauty and companionship, even in a small world. A typical visit costs about $100, but these services are typically not covered by health insurance plans.
