Paris, Tennessee – West Tennessee Healthcare Henry County Hospital (WTH-HCH) continues to demonstrate its commitment to high quality, patient-centered care, as highlighted in a heartfelt letter from Dr. Lisa Tyler, a local university professor and longtime resident in Paris, Tennessee. Dr. Tyler's recent medical emergency has strengthened her confidence in WTH-HCH and strengthened the important role hospitals play in the community.
After experiencing a serious health crisis, Dr. Tyler needed emergency medical attention. The first responders from AMR's EMS team arrived promptly and provided immediate and specialized care before being transported to the emergency department of Henry County Hospital.
“The EMT responded was phenomenal. They demonstrated empathy and professionalism in ways that calmed my fears while continuing to let me know,” writes Dr. Tyler. “When I arrived at Henry County Hospital, I was greeted by a nurse who introduced me to myself and made me feel like I was seeing myself as a person, not as a patient.”
Dr. Tyler's letter details the caring professional care received from all staff, from the EMS team and emergency room nurses to doctors who carefully explained her treatment plans. She also highlighted significant improvements in patient care since West Tennessee Healthcare took over the operation of Henry County Medical Center, highlighting the partnership has strengthened the hospital's ability to provide top-tier emergency and specialized services.
She acknowledged the first community skepticism regarding the acquisition of Henry County Medical Center's West Tennessee Healthcare. However, her personal experience serves as strong evidence of the positive impact WTH has already had, which is to enhance patient care, expand services and strengthen its mission of excellence.
“This story exemplifies what we support at Healthcare Henry County Hospital in West Tennessee: compassion, professionalism and patient care excellence,” said Tina Prescott, president and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare. “We are honored to serve the Henry County community and are committed to continuing to improve patient access and quality of health care.”
Dr. Tyler closed the letter saying he didn't hesitate to recommend WTH-HCH as his first medical option and expressed his gratitude to the leadership and culture of excellence that West Tennessee Healthcare has cultivated.
