Health and Wellness: Caring Touch aims to serve seniors and keep them living at home

James Corey “Bubba” Hesley started the new company in January with the hopes of helping seniors living at home.
Caring Touch Homecare staff can help with bathing, cooking, cleaning, laundry and mobility.
“We’re a personal in-home care agency that provides daily care services, including transportation to and from medical appointments, preparing and accompanying meals, and assisting with activities of daily living,” Hessley said. “Maybe they’re alone and don’t have family nearby to provide that kind of companionship.”
Hesley said he spent 10 years in the home health care industry before starting his own company.
“After I got out of the military, I kind of went back into the health care industry, and I realized very quickly that these people needed someone who cared,” he said.
He believes his experience locally with Atrium Health and the connections he’s made will give him an advantage in helping individuals find other local services as needed, such as physical therapy or wound care.
He said he started the company because he realized that many agencies were not providing services as frequently as many individuals would like.
“I realized there are so many people out there who need more care than that,” he said. “I want to offer a more compassionate approach. We’re just a family-run facility that cares deeply about seniors. I just want these seniors to be able to age in their own homes with dignity and grace and not have to be sent to a nursing home or care facility.”
“Many older Americans don’t want to spend their final days in a nursing home or assisted living facility,” he added, “and I just want to provide a reputable company that can meet those needs and desires.”
His company has about 10 employees and is currently focused on Stanly County, but he said he may expand his service to neighboring counties in the future.
Hesley said the company’s main goal is “to provide these people and their families with peace of mind as they face the end of their lives in their own home.”
