NORTH CHARLSTON, S.C. (WBTV) – An 84-year-old man allegedly killed another person in a South Carolina nursing home on Thursday has been charged with murder.

Police say the suspect in the murder occurred around 5:30am at North Haven Residential Care in North Charleston.

Police said Harry Rivers, the 84-year-old suspect, will kill another resident and die. The officers gave no potential motivation.

A police spokesman told Sister Bureau WCSC that firefighters and paramedics tried to save the victim but failed. Officials have not released the victim's name or age yet.

Rivers was arrested late in the morning and taken to Alcannon detention center. Prison records show he was denied the bond.

The WCSC reported that at one point another resident of the nursing home was questioned regarding the incident.

North Haven Housing Care is located near I-26 and Charleston International Airport.
