Today, the HCA Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce its launch of United For Healthy Starts, offering $1.84 million to Mile High United Way through the Healthier Tomorress Fund. The initiative is led by Denver's Mile High United Way and includes the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, United Way Miami and United Way of Greater Nashville.

“It is a privilege to support the overall health and well-being of our families through United for a healthy start, allowing organizations to have meaningful impact on our communities when they come together to support and learn from one another.

Joanne Pulles, Vice President of Community Engagement at HCA Healthcare and President of the HCA Healthcare Foundation

United For Healthy Starts aims to increase access to services to improve family social, economic and overall health outcomes. Through this new grant, the initiative is designed to help families build a strong, healthy start through home visits and wraparound services tailored to the needs of each supported family. United for Healthy Start also works to help create new non-profit partnerships with the aim of enhancing service delivery and innovation and achieving scalable impact beyond grants by establishing cooperative learning communities across the country.

“We're looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Christine Benero, president and CEO of Mile High United Way. “Through United for a Healthy Start, HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation are making a real bet for mothers and young children, especially those facing barriers to healthy outcomes.

HCA Healthcare and HCA Healthcare Foundation have a long history of working with United Way to support them. In 1981, Dr. Thomas Frist Jr., co-founder of HCA Healthcare, co-founded the first chapter of the Alexis Detockville Association in Nashville, Tennessee, and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

The HCA Healthcare Foundation's Healthier Tomorrow Fund supports evidence-based programs that address high-priority needs and advance community health by supporting efforts to pilot, replicate and measure meaningful, measurable initiatives in the communities in which HCA Healthcare resides. Since its inception, the fund has committed more than $17 million in grants to nonprofits nationwide.
