ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Governor Wes Moore today toured Adventist Healthcare Fort Washington Medical Center in support of the Moore-Miller Administration’s efforts to build a more equitable and accessible health care system for Marylanders. “Today’s visit to Adventist Healthcare underscores our commitment to strengthening health care access for all Marylanders. These investments are not just about facilities; they represent our commitment to building healthier communities and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” said Governor Moore. “Together, we are paving the way for a health care system that meets the needs of all our state’s residents.”
In the 2024 budget, the state secured a $5 million investment for Adventist Healthcare Fort Washington Medical Center, along with an additional $5 million in funding from the Maryland General Assembly to support facility renovations. “Hospitals are important partners in improving the health outcomes of their communities, and identifying community needs is the first step,” said Maryland Health Commissioner Dr. Laura Herrera Scott. “Today’s visit made it clear that Adventist Healthcare Fort Washington Medical Center’s leadership team understands the key components of community health care.”
“We are extremely grateful to Governor Moore for learning more about and working with us to address health care disparities in southern Prince George’s County,” said Adventist Healthcare President and CEO John Sackett. “Working with key stakeholders who share our commitment to the communities we serve enables us to better and more effectively meet health care needs. The Governor’s visit today underscores the importance of partnerships between state and county leaders and health care providers, and we are grateful for the Governor’s leadership, consideration and encouragement.”
“We are incredibly grateful for Governor Moore’s support,” said Wunmi Shim, president of Adventist Healthcare Fort Washington Medical Center. “From the beginning, we have sought to transform health care in southern Prince George’s County.
