The first happiness centre on the Isle of Wight opened its doors.
Hampshire and the Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust say the facility on High Street in Newport marks “a major step forward in improving local health services.”
It said its purpose is to bring together services both physical and mental health in a “welcome” and “modern” space that is accessible to all.
The trust said the centre was shaped by feedback to ensure that it meets the needs of the community.
Trust explained that the centre has a “spaced open plan layout with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.”
There are 11 treatment rooms, and the treatment rooms offer a variety of support for both physical and mental health.
Confidential spaces can also be used to manage new referrals and private areas for remote consultations.
The facility brings together community nurses, physical therapists, community mental health teams and psychotherapy.
Lucy Abel, the trust's operations director, called it “a very exciting development for the community and staff.”
She said: “Health and care professionals will be able to work with each other in one place, meaning they can more easily share their professional experience and expertise that will enhance their staff and patients' care experience.”
The trust said appointments are required and the centre's cafe is expected to open in the coming weeks and is expected to ensure accurate timing.
