At the end of January, it brought groundbreaking results to UConn pharmacies. This supports the school's commitment to expanding healthcare access and patient care and community outreach. With a statewide shortage of primary care providers, particularly among underserved individuals, UConn Pharmacy is a pharmacy training that will enable pharmacists to provide more comprehensive reproductive care by prescribing contraception to patients. We have developed a plan to create the program.

“By allowing pharmacists to both prescribe and distribute hormonal contraception, we will help reduce barriers and increase access to birth control for citizens of our state.” – Dean Hritcko

Working with Connecticut Pharmacists Association (CPA), Consumer Protection Agency (Drug Management), and the employer entities of pharmacies across the state, faculty worked to bridge the gap between this idea and necessary actions .
