According to a Wednesday announcement, Barb Jacobsmeyer, president and CEO of Enhabit Inc. (NYSE: EHAB), will step down from her role in July 2026.
“We are honored to be Enhabit's first CEO and we are honored to be part of the steady progress we've been together over the past few years,” Jacobsmeyer said in a statement. “The leadership team and our overall workforce are second and I was inspired by the team's commitment to providing high quality, caring care to our patients. I am confident in Enhabit's strategy and believe that we can use the opportunities ahead to create value for our shareholders.”
According to the announcement, the company has launched a leadership succession plan with support from Jacobsmeier. He held Executive Search Farm's Russell Reynolds Associates and helped him find the company's next CEO.
“On behalf of the Board, I am truly grateful for Barb's extraordinary leadership, partnership and dedication to the patients we serve,” Jeffrey Bolton, chairman of Enhabit's board of directors, said in a statement. “Barb has allowed the company to stabilize its business and build momentum during its tenure. We are looking for the right successor to drive the next phase of growth, so we will continue to work on smooth transitions and focus on implementing our mission.”
Jacobsmeier began his healthcare career as a physiotherapist. She later became CEO of a hospital owned by HealthSouth.
In 2022, she spoke to Home Health Care News about her life plans when it was “finished.”
“When I'm done, I love golf. I want to join a charity,” she said. “I know it sounds strange, but I also want to be that support. My mother is 85. I want them to live in 100 people. I don't mind that they are the ones who help appoint doctors and that resource that many of our seniors struggle to find.”
