Elara Caring is at the helm of a new CEO. On Wednesday, the company announced that it had appointed Anant Mohan to the role.
Mohan, who has been Elara Caring's Chief Operating Officer since 2021, will take over Scott Powers as CEO. Powers has left the company in a role for nearly six years.
For many years, Elara Caring has emerged as one of the largest home care providers in the United States. The Dallas-based company has around 200 locations in seven states and serves more than 60,000 patients.
“It was a privilege to guide Ellala through a period of meaningful growth and impact,” Powers said in a statement. “I have all the confidence that Anant will be built on this momentum and will continue to move forward with Ellara's mission with vision and heart.”
During Mohan's time as COO, he oversaw the business unit of Ellala Caring. He worked with the company's clinical teams, operational leaders and partners to improve performance and access to care.
Prior to joining Elara Caring, Mohan was president of Enterprise Operations at Cancer Treation Centers in the United States.
“We enter an exciting new chapter, positioning us for continuous innovation and growth based on our strengths,” Mohan said. “Our focus is on providing excellent care at home, supporting team members and ensuring a more connected experience across the entire range of services, from skilled home health and hospice to behavioral health and personal care services.”
It's too early to say that Elara Caring's strategic priorities are at the helm of Mohan, but value-based care was the best care for the company, especially in relation to the Home Health Value-Based Purchase (HHVBP) model.
“We're directing the entire company towards value outcomes,” Mohan previously told Home Health Care News. “It adds to the complexity of how we do business, so you have to be refined about it. With a midwaypoint score, it really prepares us and reaffirms that this is the way the world is going.”
Former CEO Powers' priorities for Elara Caring will focus on the caregiver and patient experiences, as well as expanding its footprint and density.
“(One of my priorities) is to grow your business where you are now. So, we're increasing our market share, becoming more denser and bigger, and we're actually working together with today's referral experience to do business,” Powers told HHCN in 2024.
