There are just a few days left now to submit your entry for the Nursing Times Awards for 2025, featuring categories celebrating individuals, innovation and inspiration across the nursing and midwifery profession.
The Nursing Times Awards are back, so don’t miss out on your chance to win, by getting your submissions and nominations ready by the end of this week to be in with a chance of getting hold of one of our trophies.
The final entry deadline has been extended to midnight on Friday 23 May. That’s right, you need to submit your entry by the end of this week!
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on Wednesday 22 October 2025.
The annual event will bring together the nursing community to shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession and recognise those making nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.
All of our award categories are designed to highlight those who have gone above and beyond what is expected of them in their day-to-day role.
They celebrate innovation, perseverance and incredible work across 25 categories, covering a wide range of nursing specialties from mental health to social care to children’s services.
They also recognise the individuals and teams who are truly exceptional, with standout awards for Nurse of the Year, Team of the Year, Nurse Leader of the Year and the Chief Nursing Officers’ Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Congratulations once again to our 2024 Nurse of the Year, Catherine Harrison, an advanced nurse practitioner at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who specialises in haemophilia and haemostasis disorders.
The 2024 Team of the Year prize was won by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust for their recruitment, patient safety and experience service, and Emma Dixon from St Ann’s Hospice was named Nurse Leader of the Year.
In addition, last year the Chief Nursing Officers’ Award for Lifetime Achievement went to Maura Devlin, director of nursing for the Down GP Federation, a partnership of 13 general practices in Northern Ireland.
Ms Devlin received the award in recognition of her achievements in transforming general practice nursing and for her role in education and regulation, as well as her passion for addressing health inequalities and empowering local communities.
Returning for a second year in 2025 is a category we initially launched in 2024, namely the Sustainability in Nursing and Midwifery category.
The inaugural trophy was won by a nurse-led project to reduce the consumption of paper, ink and plastic at Chester Zoo’s occupational health department.
Action on sustainability and green issues, both political and practical, is required at every level to tackle the climate crisis.
Arguably, the health and care sector has been slower than others in prioritising sustainability and green policies, in part due to infection prevention and control policies among other things.
While it is starting to make up ground, there is still much to do and many opportunities for those working in the sector with ideas and innovations to make a real difference.
Supporting action to improve sustainability by nurses and midwives is a key aim of Nursing Times and one of the main reasons that we are launching this new category dedicated to green issues.
This award seeks to recognise an individual or small group or team of nurses or midwives that has made an exceptional contribution to promoting sustainability and green issues.
Meanwhile, the HRH The Prince of Wales Award for Integrated Approaches to Care, which was first established in 2014, last year became the King’s Award for Integrated Approaches to Care.
This award was given to Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for its work improving the transition from paediatric to adult care for young people with diabetes.
The 2025 Nursing Times Awards are open to entries from individuals and teams, or nominations from those who wish to highlight others who they believe deserve recognition.
They provide you with the perfect opportunity to congratulate your peers, leaders and the brightest talent entering the profession.
You have until midnight on Friday 23 May 2025 to submit your entry. We can’t wait to hear your story – finish and submit your application today!
You can find more information about all the categories and how to enter by visiting the Nursing Times Awards website.
