Hackensack Meridian Health expands hospital and home programs
Hackensack Meridian Health is expanding the hospital from its home program to two more locations. Qualified patients will need caution through Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, New Jersey and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford Township, New Jersey.
This program will be made possible through a partnership with Medical Home, the DispatchHealth Company.
“We create important new access points for patients while providing unique benefits for both patients and providers,” Dr. Pippa Shulman, Chief Medical Officer at DispatchHealth, said in a statement. “Visualizing care delivery in the home environment will improve clinical insights, support stronger care coordination, and lead to better outcomes. We are proud to support Hackensack Meridian's health and bring this model of care to more patients across the system with this program.”
Hackensack Meridian Health is a nonprofit, integrated health care network in New Jersey, consisting of over 500 patient care locations, including 18 hospitals and home health services.
The hospital from home was launched following a pilot who cared for more than 1,000 patients in April 2022 at JFK University Medical Center. The network aims to expand the program to all hospitals within the healthcare system.
Village Health agrees to sell assets to Centrewell
Villages Health (TVH), a healthcare system for village retirement communities in Florida, is undergoing a strategic restructuring to maintain its business, including filing a Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Center Well Senior Primary Care has signed an asset purchase agreement with TVH to “stalking horses.” The agreement allows Centerwell, the healthcare services division of Humana Inc., to acquire TVH assets as a growing entity. The court must approve the sale after the auction process. This process allows other parties to bid on TVH's assets. This approval is a condition that the transaction will continue and close. Meanwhile, TVH, according to the company, will continue its business without any confusion.
“We believe that this reorganization plan and planning a planned transaction with Centrewell will be the greatest benefit of patients, physicians, other clinicians, employees, partners and community members, and will ultimately be a more promising future,” said Dr. Elliot Sussman, director of village health and founder of the physician. “Under Centrewell, this healthcare system will continue to be a leading provider of patient-centered, primary care-driven, community-based healthcare.”
Based in Orlando, TVH provides health care to more than 55,000 patients in northern Florida.

Synergy HomeCare has a new location in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.
Synergy HomeCare in Winchester provides residents of surrounding areas, including Winchester City, Frederick and Warren Counties.
“For those dealing with ageing or health issues, it's important to have access to reliable comfort support in the familiarity of their home,” said Synergy HomeCare, Winchester owner Mike Sheblack, in a statement. “My experiences with my family have turned to the reality behind how difficult it is for people to find that help. My goal is to be an accessible, peace-minded provider that I can safely rely on when my family helps to maintain the happiness of my loved ones.”
Almost 20% of Shenandoah Valley residents are now over 65 years old, higher than the national average.
Two Ohio Counties join the pace
According to the Ohio Department of Aging (Age), Franklin and Summit counties currently offer comprehensive care programs for seniors (PACEs).
Pace combines healthcare, social and personal care services into a single coordinated model, aiming to be more cost-effective than other long-term care options. Most participants are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Services include primary and specialized care, Coming of Age Day health programs, personal care, staying in hospitals, prescription medication, occupational and physical therapy, and nursing home care.
“The pace is personalized and designed to help keep Ohio at home at 55 and above,” Age Director Ursel J. McElroy said in a statement. “Aged Ohio has repeatedly said they prefer to spend their golden years at home. The expansion of this program will help older Ohio people and help them reassure their loved ones that more families are receiving proper care.”
Age advocates for their families, caregivers and communities, along with the needs of Ohioans over 60 years old.
