ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Community advocates came together today to promote medical services at the redeveloped Atlanta Medical Center.

The city has just announced plans to build new housing and stores on the site of a shuttered hospital.

Organizers are concerned about the lack of proper medical care in Georgia. They marched along the Beltline Sunday afternoon to unveil a mural of the “My Community, My Hospital” campaign. The mural celebrates the legacy of AMC and its former name, Georgia Baptist Hospital.

“I heard about the redevelopment plans. We have a lot of ideas for them, but mainly the only thing we need is medical services. Specifically, a Level 1 emergency center is what we are aiming for. is.”

Atlanta Medical Center closed on Halloween two years ago, creating a vacuum in the city's medical and emergency services.
