At a key milestone, the VA Augusta Healthcare System has achieved a gold seal of recognition from the Joint Committee, highlighting its exceptional commitment to patient care.
This respected recognition was awarded following an intensive site survey to verify the system's compliance with the highest standards of healthcare.
“Being accredited by the Joint Committee is a deep review of the pursuit of exceptional excellence,” said Oscar G. Rodriguez, executive director of the VA Augusta Healthcare System. Rodriguez's pride in achieving was evident as he spoke of the dedication and hard work that the entire team demonstrated. “Every day, our team answers the call to serve veterans and ensures that they and their families receive the best possible care. This outstanding achievement belongs to each of our staff.”
This journey to admiration was not an easy task. Over a few days in late January, a team of reviewers from the joint committee conducted an unpublished comprehensive on-site assessment. Their Mission: To scrutinize every aspect of VA Augusta's operation. This rigorous review has delved into a variety of areas including care delivery, treatment and services, nursing, process improvement, life safety, emergency management, and more. The surveyors conducted thorough observations and interviews without turning the stones over to assess the level of compliance with national health standards.
The gold seal of approval is more than just a symbol. This is evidence of VA Augusta's unwavering dedication to quality and safety in patient care. The standards of the Joint Committee are meticulously developed in consultation with medical professionals, rigorously informed by the scientific literature and refined through expert consensus. These standards serve as benchmarks for healthcare institutions striving to improve performance and provide superior care.
“Through collaboration on innovative solutions and evidence-based resources and tools, the Joint Committee will help promote improvement while maintaining accountability through key research methods and standards,” explained Dr. Ken Grubbs, Vice President of Accredited and Accredited Businesses for the Joint Committee. Grubbs emphasized the importance of such outcomes, saying, “We praise the VA Augusta Healthcare System for its commitment to promoting safety, quality, equity and compassion for all patients.”
