AWS will line up for Vienna from the upcoming European Radiation Conference (ECR) from February 26th to March 2025. In line with this year's Congressional theme of “Planet Radiology,” AWS will show you whether cloud technology can help transform health imaging. .

Built for a Breakthrough: Sustainable Innovation in AWS Medical Imaging

ECR 2025's sustainability focus resonates strongly with AWS' commitment to innovating in all areas of global infrastructure, increasing efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. Congress emphasizes the urgent need to implement environmentally friendly practices in the radiology department, and AWS has cited the need for cloud-based services and partner solutions that help reduce the environmental impact of medical imaging operations. It is at the forefront of this transformation.

Special Session at ECR 2025

Join AWS experts for these innovative sessions:

Healthy People, Healthy Planets: The Power of Clouds in Radiology
February 28th, 11:30 – 12:00 CET
Speaker: Rowland Illing
Session Link: Overall Lecture | PL-2
Discover how cloud technology is revolutionizing radiology by enabling efficient storage, sharing, and analysis of large-scale imaging data. This session explores how cloud solutions can enhance collaboration among healthcare professionals and significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with traditional imaging practices. Learn how cloud adoption can promote remote consultation and telehealth, creating the dual benefits of improving access to healthcare and environmental sustainability.

AI and Cybersecurity: Protecting the Future of Healthcare Technology
February 28th 08:30 – 09:30 CET
Panel featuring Rowland Illing
Session Link: Panel Discussion | AI-SC 7
Dive deep into key considerations regarding AI implementation in healthcare, including the comparative benefits of cloud and on-premises solutions and the impact on energy consumption and resource utilization. This comprehensive session addresses critical cybersecurity strategies for protecting patient data, with a particular focus on protecting against adversarial attacks and preventing data leaks in diagnostic and generated AI applications. Participants have the opportunity to engage directly with experts to implement robust defenses against emerging cybersecurity threats in healthcare.

Democratize access to radiation services using generator AI
February 26th, 1:00pm-14:30pm set
Speaker: Razvan Ionasec
Session Link: Focus Program | IF-4
The session explores how artificial intelligence can transform global access to radiology services, especially in low-resource regions. It features presentations in various radiology subfields, including breast imaging and mobile chest x-rays, in AI applications. The purpose of this session is to discuss AI integration in radiology and the potential to address healthcare disparities around the world. Learn how clouds can use generated AI to democratize access to radiation services.

Accelerate the green transition of radiology using cloud technology
March 1st, 16:00-17:30 set
Speaker: Alex Rem
Session Link: Focus Program | IF-21
We explore how cloud technology and AI can significantly reduce the environmental impact of radiation operations while enhancing patient care delivery. As medical imaging accounts for 90% of global healthcare data and is increasing exponentially, this session is a practical matter of optimizing end-to-end radiation workflows, from image capture to archives. It provides insights. Manage the challenges posed by energy-intensive technologies such as clinical AI solutions and large-scale language models, while learning how cloud-based solutions can help radiology practices reduce their environmental footprint.
