ASW. Carol Murphy Slam impacts the GOP spending bill on the healthcare industry
(Trenton) – Rep. Carol Murphy (D-Burlington), chairman of the Congressional Health Committee, has issued the following statement regarding the signing of the federal GOP Expenditure Bill:
“The ironically named “Big Beautiful Building” was passed on the eve of Independence Day and was signed on July 4th at a Republican celebration. However, this law will cause serious harm to our country and, more specifically, to the people of New Jersey.
“In New Jersey, an estimated 1.8 million people are registered with Medicaid through Family Care in New Jersey. Under the federal Republican bill, around 350,000 New Jersey could lose access to health insurance, directly affecting low-income families who refuse to avoid being easily reliant on the most vulnerable residents, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families who are easily dependent on the Direction.
“Thanks to Republicans in Washington, rural communities across the state face certain challenges. Many health services in these areas already operate on limited resources. When they become the first person to be eliminated for programs not mandated by federal law and community-based health services, spending is reduced.
“This bill is an important setback for public health in New Jersey. Rather than increasing the path to better health, it will vote for a healthier future and build obstacles that will bring very realistic outcomes to millions of Americans who deserve.”
