The clinic supported the remote medical program's visit to Fort Smith thanks to a $20,000 donation from the Degen Foundation to the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM). The initiative will provide free dentistry, vision and healthcare to those who lack or can't afford access to health services.
“We are a great place to go,” said Ammar Jihad, a student doctor at ARCOM.
The event brings together approximately 150-200 volunteers to serve an estimated 200-300 patients. Jihad was important in spearheading the initiative and securing donations to ensure its success.
Through this clinic, ARCOM students aim to influence their community while giving back to those who support them. They hope to encourage a movement to establish a similar clinic in Arkansas.
